Currents
This is a series of photographic images taken on different occasions at different sites. Even though these photo-shopped and manipulated images speak to different subject matters, from different sites, they have undergone the same technical manipulation. Every image is abstracted, and wrapped in a circular motion that mimics polar coordinates, suddenly interrupted by a cut that leads to nowhere. Since I am familiar with the original narrative, the altered composition becomes an untold story that is hidden and buried in my subconscious. These digitalized distortions are meant to speak visually and symbolically to what happens in political arenas. The spinning images convey the spinning of political facts by those who serve super power structures to manipulate situations fueled with hidden agendas. Like rip current these images are spun in every direction; the spinning takes us with it into, or against, the current of life. The more you resist the more it takes you in.
